Jelly Bean Genius

Recovering a complex educational product catalogue and turning it into a cleaner, safer, more searchable Shopify store.

The Challenge
Jelly Bean Genius had a large catalogue of educational posters, maps, binder inserts, classroom resources, and study tools. The store had grown complicated fast: duplicate-looking products, split variants, imported content issues, collection confusion, SEO gaps, missing social links, and product data that needed to be cleaned without deleting valuable records or breaking future imports.

Our Approach
We treated the project as a recovery and launch-readiness sprint. The priority was to protect the existing catalogue while making the storefront easier for parents, teachers, and homeschool shoppers to browse. Product families were audited, duplicate structures were consolidated into proper variants where safe, obvious duplicate child products were archived with redirects, and collection/category content was tightened so the store made more sense from both a shopper and search engine point of view.

The design work focused on bringing the brand's educational, atlas-inspired personality forward without creating more admin complexity. The store needed to feel more imaginative, but the backend also had to be cleaner for future uploads and product maintenance.

What We Delivered
Homepage recovery, product catalogue cleanup, variant consolidation, redirect mapping, collection descriptions, SEO metadata across products, pages, articles, and collections, social-link wiring, footer/header improvements, and a public SEO delivery report.

The Result
Jelly Bean Genius moved from a messy pre-launch state into a much cleaner Shopify setup with 133 active products, 338 active variants, no active duplicate SKU-base groups, and a stronger search foundation for future growth.
