Shopify web design

Shopify web design from £2,500, built by a senior team of two

Neat Digital is a Shopify design agency run by two people, Declan and Megan. Between us we have built more than 2,000 Shopify stores. We are a Shopify Plus Partner and we are rated 5.0 from 14 reviews on the Shopify Partner Directory. We work at a flat rate: £2,500 for a two-week sprint, £4,000 for three weeks, with an average turnaround of 16 days. You deal directly with the people doing the work, you know the price before you start, and you own everything at the end. This page explains what a Shopify web design project with us looks like, what it costs, and how to start.

What a Shopify design project with Neat includes

Every Shopify design project at Neat is run by the same two people from the first call to launch. Declan and Megan share the design and the build between them. There is no account manager in between and no junior picking up the work after the pitch.

Here is what a typical project includes:

  • Discovery and audit. We look at your current store, your analytics, your products and your competitors before we design anything. If you are starting from nothing, we start with your products and your customer instead.
  • Design. Homepage, collection pages, product pages, cart and the supporting pages you need. Mobile first, because that is where most of your traffic already is.
  • Build. A theme built or customised in Liquid, CSS and JavaScript on Shopify's Online Store 2.0 architecture, so you can edit sections yourself after launch.
  • Imagery. Where product photography is missing or inconsistent, we can produce AI imagery that matches your brand so you are not launching with gaps.
  • Speed and SEO basics. Image compression, script cleanup, structured data, sensible URLs and metadata on every page. Built in, not bolted on at the end.
  • Apps and integrations. Reviews, email, subscriptions, shipping and payments. We install what earns its place and remove what does not.
  • Launch and handover. A checklist covering redirects, domain, payments, tax and shipping settings, plus a recorded walkthrough so you know how to edit your own store.

You own the theme outright. It sits in your Shopify account, not ours. If you want to bring in another developer later, nothing is locked and nothing is hidden.

What we do not do is pad a project to hit a budget. If your store needs a better product page template and a faster theme rather than a full redesign, we will say so. Most of our work sits inside two fixed-price sprints, which keeps the scope honest on both sides.

Who Shopify web design with Neat is for

Three kinds of store owner come to us for Shopify web design. You will probably recognise yourself in one of them.

You are launching a new store. You have a product, maybe a name and a logo, and you need a store that looks credible on day one. The 2-Week Sprint covers a single-product store with logo and brand guidelines. The 3-Week Sprint covers full branding plus a complete multi-product build. Either way you launch with a store that is set up properly, not a default theme with your logo dropped in.

You have a store that is not converting. Traffic arrives, people look, few buy. This is the most common brief we get. The problems are usually specific: a product page that pushes the price below the fold on mobile, a collection page with no filters, a theme carrying eleven apps nobody uses. A redesign fixes the structure. A conversion sprint fixes the pages that lose money. We will tell you which one you need after the free audit.

You are moving to Shopify. From WooCommerce, Magento, Wix, Squarespace, BigCommerce or a custom platform. A migration is a design project and a data project at the same time. Products, customers, orders, reviews and redirects all have to land correctly, and the new store has to be at least as good as the old one on launch day. We handle both halves inside the 3-Week Sprint, with a custom quote for large catalogues or complex integrations.

We work with brands across the UK and beyond, from single founders to established retailers. What they share is wanting senior people on the work and a clear price before starting.

If you are not sure which group you are in, the free audit sorts it. Send us your URL and within 48 hours you get a five-minute Loom walking through what we would change and why. No call required.

Flat-rate sprints: how they work and what they cost

Most agencies quote by the hour or send a proposal that runs to twenty pages. We sell two fixed-price sprints. You know the cost and the timeline before you commit, and the scope is written down so there are no surprises in week two.

The 2-Week Sprint, £2,500. One focused piece of work with a defined outcome. Pick one:

  • Conversion optimisation on your key pages
  • An SEO and speed audit with the fixes applied, not just a report
  • Logo and brand guidelines
  • A single-product store build
  • A custom Liquid or CSS feature your theme does not support
  • A small redesign covering fewer than three pages

The 3-Week Sprint, £4,000. Bigger jobs that touch the whole store. Pick one:

  • Full branding plus a complete store build
  • Custom theme design and development
  • Advanced integrations and platform migrations
  • Conversion-led UX across every template in the store
  • A major redesign covering three or more pages

Custom quotes cover anything larger: Shopify Plus builds, multi-store setups, large migrations and projects that need more than one sprint. The instant quote tool on our site gives you a figure in a couple of minutes without a call.

How a sprint runs in practice:

  • Day one: kickoff, access to your store and assets, and a written scope you sign off
  • First week: design mockups of the key pages, your review, revisions
  • Second and third weeks: build on a development theme, testing, your review
  • Final days: launch checklist, handover, recorded walkthrough

Our average turnaround across projects is 16 days. That is not a rush job. It is what happens when two senior people work on one thing at a time instead of juggling a dozen accounts.

The price is the price. If you ask for something outside the written scope, we tell you before we do it and quote it separately.

Design that converts, page by page

A good-looking store that does not sell is a brochure. Every design decision we make on a Shopify store is tested against one question: does this help someone buy? Here is what that means page by page.

Product page. This is where money is made or lost. Price, variant selection and the add to cart button stay visible on mobile without scrolling. Images load fast and zoom properly. Shipping, returns and delivery times sit next to the button, not buried in a footer link. Reviews appear where doubt appears. Related products are chosen, not random.

Collection pages. Filters that match how your customers actually shop: size, colour, price, use. Clean product cards with a second image on hover, quick add where it makes sense, and a sort order that puts your best sellers first rather than whatever was uploaded last.

Cart and checkout. A slide-out cart that shows a free shipping threshold and lets people edit without leaving the page. Express payment buttons up front. On Shopify Plus we customise the checkout itself. On standard plans we make sure nothing between cart and checkout gives people a reason to leave.

Speed. A slow store loses sales before anyone sees the design. We strip unused apps, defer scripts, compress and lazy-load images, and start from a theme that scores well before anything is added. We measure with Lighthouse and Shopify's own speed score before and after, and show you both.

Mobile. We design the mobile version first and adapt it upwards to desktop, not the other way round. Buttons you can reach with a thumb, text you can read without pinching, a sticky add to cart, and forms that do not fight the keyboard.

Trust. Real reviews, clear contact details, a returns policy in plain English, and a homepage that says what you sell in the first screen. None of it is complicated. Most stores simply do not do it.

The result is a store where the design gets out of the way. Your customer finds the product, understands it, trusts you and pays. That is the whole job.

Shopify Plus and custom builds

Neat Digital is a Shopify Plus Partner, confirmed in July 2026. That matters if you are on Plus already or planning to move, because Plus projects are different from standard theme work.

On Shopify Plus you get access to things a standard store cannot touch:

  • Checkout customisation through checkout extensibility, so you can add upsells, custom fields, trust messaging and branding inside the checkout itself
  • Shopify Functions for custom discount logic, shipping rules and payment options
  • Multiple stores for different regions, currencies or brands, managed together
  • B2B features including company accounts, price lists and payment terms
  • Launchpad and Flow for scheduled sales and automated workflows

We design and build for all of it. A Plus build usually starts with a custom quote rather than a sprint, because the scope depends on how many of those features you need and how your existing systems connect. A typical Plus project covers custom theme design, checkout extensions, integrations with your ERP, warehouse or CRM, and the migration work to get you there in one piece.

Custom builds beyond Plus. Not every custom project needs Plus. Some brands on a standard plan need a theme built from scratch because nothing off the shelf fits: an unusual product configurator, a bespoke bundle builder, a store that has to match an existing brand system exactly. That is custom theme design and development, and it fits inside the 3-Week Sprint for most single-store projects.

We build custom themes on Shopify's Online Store 2.0 architecture with JSON templates and sections you can edit in the theme editor. You are not handed a locked theme you cannot touch. You are handed a theme built the way Shopify intends, documented, and yours.

If you are weighing up whether Plus is worth the monthly cost, ask us. We will give you a straight answer based on your revenue and your needs, not a sales pitch. Plenty of stores doing well do not need it. Some much smaller stores do, because of B2B or multi-region requirements.

Recent Shopify design work

Iconic Candy. A confectionery store where the range was strong and the design was getting in the way of it. We reworked the collection pages so customers could browse by type and by brand, rebuilt the product page so price and add to cart stay on screen on mobile, and cut page load time by [METRIC]. Conversion rate rose from [METRIC] to [METRIC] in the [METRIC] after launch.

Barebuilt Nutrition. A nutrition brand that needed a store to match the quality of the product. Brand guidelines, a custom theme and product pages built around ingredients and clear claims rather than hype. Average order value went up [METRIC] once bundles and a shipping threshold were added to the cart, and the store now scores [METRIC] on Shopify's speed report.

Cam Whitnall. A creator store where the audience arrives from social in bursts and almost entirely on a phone. The design had to load fast, get people to the product in one tap and hold up under traffic spikes. We built a stripped-back theme with a sticky add to cart and express payments front and centre. Mobile conversion rate came in at [METRIC], with [METRIC] of orders placed on a phone.

Tartan Roots. A heritage brand where the story matters as much as the product. We designed a store that gives the story room without slowing the path to purchase: a homepage that sells in the first screen and product pages that explain provenance without a wall of text. Organic traffic grew [METRIC] in [METRIC] on the back of the SEO work done in the same sprint.

Ask us for the detail on any of these. You can also see our work for Yayo Familia, BigBadBeats, Illuminaughty, Art by Luciana, Jack's Beans and the Fansly merch store in the portfolio.

Why two senior people beat a big agency

Big agencies are built to scale. That means layers: an account manager, a project manager, a strategist, a designer, a developer, a QA person, and often a junior doing most of the actual work. Each layer costs you money and each handover loses something.

Neat is Declan and Megan. That is the whole team, and it is deliberate.

  • The people who quote are the people who build. Nothing gets lost between the sales call and the first design. When you explain what matters to you, the person listening is the person doing the work.
  • Decisions happen in minutes. No waiting for a Tuesday status meeting. You message, we answer, the change gets made.
  • Senior work at every step. Between us we have built more than 2,000 Shopify stores. That experience goes into your product page, not into a strategy deck.
  • Lower overhead, better price. A 3-Week Sprint at £4,000 buys senior time that a larger agency would price much higher, because you are not funding an office, a sales team and staff on the bench between projects.
  • Accountability. If something is wrong, you know exactly who to talk to and they cannot pass it down the chain.

There is an honest limit. We take on a small number of projects at a time, so there is sometimes a short wait for a start date.

The track record backs it up. Neat is rated 5.0 from 14 reviews on the Shopify Partner Directory and is a Shopify Plus Partner. Our work has been featured in Forbes and in The Sun, and our Fiverr Pro status was covered on PR Newswire. All of that comes from two people in Ayr, Scotland, working directly with clients across the UK and beyond.

If you want a big-agency logo on the proposal, we are not the right fit. If you want the store to be good and the process to be simple, we are.

What happens after launch

Launch is the start, not the end. A store that is never touched again drifts. Apps get added, images get uploaded at the wrong size, a theme update breaks a section, and conversion slips a little every month. We offer three ways to keep the store moving after the sprint.

Retainers from £300 to £2,500 a month. At the lower end you get a set block of time each month for fixes, tweaks and small features, with the same two people who built the store. At the higher end you get a rolling programme of improvement: monthly conversion work, new landing pages, seasonal campaigns, app management and speed monitoring. You choose the level that fits.

Conversion rate optimisation. Once the store has real traffic, the data shows where people drop off. We run structured CRO: heatmaps and session recordings, analytics review, then changes to the pages that matter most, measured before and after. It is the same work as the 2-Week Sprint's conversion option, done on an ongoing basis so the gains compound.

SEO. Design gets you the sale. SEO gets you the visitor. After launch we work on collection and product page content, technical fixes, internal linking, structured data and site speed, so the store earns organic traffic month on month rather than depending on ads for every order.

We also handle the unglamorous things: theme updates, app audits and keeping speed where it was on launch day.

None of this is compulsory. Plenty of clients launch, take the recorded handover and run the store themselves. The theme is yours, the documentation is yours, and you can come back for a sprint whenever the store needs a step change. Either way you are dealing with the people who built the store, so nothing has to be explained twice.

Questions store owners ask us

How much does Shopify web design cost in the UK?

With Neat, £2,500 for a 2-Week Sprint or £4,000 for a 3-Week Sprint, both fixed. That covers everything from a single-product build up to full branding and a complete store. Larger projects, including most Shopify Plus builds, get a custom quote.

How long does a Shopify store design take?

Our sprints are two or three weeks and our average turnaround across projects is 16 days. A simple redesign or a single-product store sits at the shorter end. A full build with branding, or a migration, takes the full three weeks. Bigger custom projects get their own timeline.

Should I use a premium theme or get a custom design?

A premium theme customised well is the right answer for most stores, and it costs less. A custom theme makes sense when your brand needs something a theme cannot do, when you have unusual product logic, or when speed and control matter enough to justify it. We will tell you which after the audit.

Can you migrate my store from WooCommerce, Magento or Wix to Shopify?

Yes. Migrations fit inside the 3-Week Sprint for most stores. We move products, customers, orders and reviews, map every old URL to a new one so you keep your search rankings, and build the new store so it is at least as good as the old one on launch day. Large catalogues get a custom quote.

Do I own the theme when the project is finished?

Yes, completely. The theme lives in your Shopify account, not ours, and we hand over documentation with it. There is no licence fee, no lock-in and nothing hidden. If you bring in another developer later, they can pick it up.

Do I need Shopify Plus?

Probably not, unless you need checkout customisation, B2B features, multiple stores or high-volume automation. Plus has a significant monthly cost and most stores do well without it. As a Shopify Plus Partner we can give you a straight answer based on your revenue and what you actually need, and build for it if the answer is yes.

Which apps do I need, and will they slow my store down?

Fewer than you think. Most stores need reviews, email and possibly subscriptions or a bundle tool. Every app adds scripts, and too many of them will slow the store and cost you sales. We audit what you have, remove what is not earning its place, and build features in the theme where that is faster than an app.

How fast will my store be after the redesign?

Faster than it is now, and we show you the before and after in Lighthouse and Shopify's speed report. We start from a theme that scores well, compress and lazy-load images, defer non-essential scripts and keep apps to a minimum. Speed is part of every sprint, not an add-on.

How many revisions are included?

Revisions are built into each sprint at both the design stage and the build stage. You review the mockups and then the working store, and we act on your feedback each time. If you ask for something outside the written scope, we tell you and quote it separately before doing it.

How do I get started?

Two ways. Use the instant quote tool at neat.digital/pages/instant-quote for a price in a couple of minutes, or send us your store URL for a free audit. Within 48 hours you get a five-minute Loom showing what we would change and why. Then we book a start date.
